Glaze Firing

Glaze firing is the final kiln firing, during which applied glazes melt and mature. Heat transforms the clay body into a stable ceramic matrix, while the glaze bonds to the surface.

Depending on the clay body and firing temperature, the piece may be fully or partially vitrified. This firing fixes the final structure, surface, and character of the work.
