Glazing

noun / verb (pottery)

Glazing is the process of applying a suspension of minerals to (normally) bisque-fired ceramic. During firing, these materials melt and interact with the clay body, forming a glassy surface layer.

Glaze affects colour, texture, durability, and how the finished piece responds to light and use.
